About
JahFlor is co-owned and opperated by life partners D'Andre and Jahzara. D'Andre is a photographer, film director, and flow artist from Chicago. Jahzara is an ethnobotanist, visual artist, and agricultural educator from Philly with roots in Vieques and Mexico City.
MISSION
We practice agriculture and art to cultivate resilience and healing within our community. Our goal is to serve our neighbors and honor the earth by using regenerative methods, guided by agroecology and bioregionalism.
VISION
Farming is an act of resistance. Vieques demands a hospital for its residents as well as dignified transportation and food sovereignty. We see increased access to fresh foods and herbs as a step towards prevention and healing.
VALUES
- STEWARDSHIP - We are caring for our land in the name of Spirit, our ancestors, and the generations to come.
- FOOD SOVEREIGNTY - We work within a community of local farmers growing food for Viequenses. We believe that people should control the production and distribution of their food.
- AGROECOLOGY - We build on indigenous agricultural practices to fulfill a niche in our ecosystem. We use the plants that we have around us in abundance, and plants that grow easily in our climate, while working in harmony with the local environment.
